It’s a shot from a newscast. A “bug” in the corner reads “Hollywood News — Live!” A smiling Reporter speaks into a microphone as she descends some steps. She says: “And now, ladies and gentlemen, we’ll be the first people to go inside Betty White’s secret basement since the door was discovered last week. Who knows what treasures from TV’s Golden Age we’ll find?” She’s pushing on a door, and though it’s barely ajar we can see (though she can’t —yet) skeletons chained to the wall, torture instruments, the words “PLES KIL ME” written in blood, etc.
Keith Quinn appreciated yesterday’s Dr. Demento reference, though Brian Silver worries it’ll be lost on younger readers. There’s a new Weird Al biopic coming out, so I suspect the reference will be fresh again soon.
The Black Spider carried poisonous spiders in his pockets and threatened bad guys with them:
This might be the dumbest weapon I’ve ever seen in any comic book. Can any of you top it?
Come back next week, I guess I’ll keep going. And a reminder to subscribers, both new and old: Draw these comics for me! I just can’t.
