An author at a book fair: “How did I write my book? The usual. I got the idea, did the research, then I went to a writer’s colony in upstate New York three times, Yaddo, Yaddo, Yaddo…”
This is probably already a hoary old joke at Yaddo, but I don’t know, I’ve never been. Can any Yaddo habitues confirm? BTW, I just looked at their website and saw that it’s for both artists and writers. Why did I think it was just for writers?
Do any of you realize how lucky we are to have Margreet de Heer contributing to this Substack?
She blows me away. Her style is so clean and expressive — and so warm. She’s made this very strange comic (number seven two seven) feel cozy.
It’s made ten times better by how adorable the little girl is, and by how caring (yet still sinister) the Dad is. But the beheaded dolly is the crowning touch. I love this family!
Thank you, Margreet. You probably noticed that I like it.
Everyone else: be like my hero Margreet and draw one of my comics.
Aw thank you Josh! I love your prompts, they're quite inspiring!
