Cartoon One Two Nine One
Wrap-up
A tiny desert island. A few bedraggled castaways — long beards, ragged pants — stand under the lone palm tree. A detective, in trench coat and slouch hat, addresses them: “You’re probably wondering why I’ve gathered you all here today…”
The Iron Skull is an anomaly:
He should, by all rights, be a villain. He’s a scary cyborg. He has big, lidless, staring eyes. He has no nose. His name is Iron Skull. The Red Skull is a bad guy. Iron Jaw is a bad guy. What are the odds that Iron Skull would be good? And yet, he is. Even odder: though his stories were published before the launch of WWII (or, at least. America’s entry into the conflict), they’re set in a post WWII future — either the 50’s or the 70’s — that doesn’t look very different from 1940’s America. So they’re sort of sci-fi, too. Just weird.
He was created by Carl Burgos, who also created Submariner, so I guess he knew his way around an antihero.

I like the colorful panels contrasted with the rather dark subject matter. And Iron Skull is one bad ass name. Hehe.
I like the joke. It would be nice if the castaways had slack jawed uncomprehending looks on their faces. WHOT?
