Cartoon One Two Nine Oh
Speed
Two high-powered executives run on treadmills (or spin cycles) with stock tickers and news feeds all around them, while looking at their phones. One of them has a vase of flowers perched right in front of her face. She’s saying: “… but if I take the roses with me, I don’t ever have to stop.”
Mike Reiss has a hilarious new book called “Bad Trips” about all the insane and dangerous vacations his beautiful, brilliant, deeply-disturbed wife, Denise, has dragged him on. No one writes funnier than Mike Reiss, and no one plans a more cockeyed vacation than Denise. Put them together and it’s magical. Ten stars!
Quicksilver is still in comic books today, in basically the same costume:
He’s like the Flash’s uncle or something. It’s complicated. The character was dormant for forty or fifty years, before someone decided to dig him up and make him part of the Flash family. Being super fast wasn’t even part of his schtick originally. I guess they just thought it was a cool name.
Draw.
