A banner across the top reads “Sometime in the Fall of 2019.”
A group of sinister business people are gathered around a table, on which is drawn a map of the world, in a classic “Villains Divide the World” pose. A sign on the wall reads: “Association of Surgical Mask Manufacturers.” The chief villain is standing and says, “Then we’re agreed. We release the virus tomorrow.”
I missed yesterday. I was busy!
This is art by Steve Ditko, one of the artists’ whose estates are suing Marvel comics:
Ditko created Spiderman, at least partly. I wasn’t a big superhero fan when I was a kid, but I had some familiarity with these early Ditko Spiderman stories (I think my Uncle Ray had a book?) and he was so goddam annoying it defies imagination. He was always whining about being poor and no girlfriend. He couldn’t let his Aunt Mae find out he was Spiderman or she would die, and then she did find out he was Spiderman and she didn’t die, meaning that three decades of annoying stories about hiding his identity from her were pointless. I don’t know why anyone would claim credit for such an annoying character.
Please draw, for me. Thank you.
